The Shepards Granddaughter.

There has been many arguements on whether or not "The Shepard's Grandaughter" should be removed from school libraries and Red Maple, and in this blog post, I shall explan why
I do not think that it should be.
First of all, the book isn't lying, or stating that all Israelis are evil and inhumane people. I feel that by taking this book off the shelves is like denying the world of information. Apparently, that is even illegal! (According to Andrew.) Also, it is a right for people to learn and more about this issue, and taking the book off the shelves will leave many students still clueless about the Israelis. If other forms of media (like news and radios) talk about the Israelis and Palestinians, why can't books? I can understand how some people will be strongly against this book, but this is a free country and I believe that as long as the story is based on a true story and is not racist, this book is totally fine on the shelves. Some people may be afraid that this story is not appropriate for us teens, but many students are reading and watching things even more violent and cruel books. This is just my opinion, and I can see why some people would be against this book. So, just because some people think that this book makes people hate ALL Israelis (which doesn't), and has a strong opinion agianst it, I do not think that it should be removed from the library and the Red Maple Program.

Well, I'm trying to reach 300 words, but I've ran out of things to say, so yeaa. La dee la la la la. CAN'T WAIT FOR QUEBEC! . Thanks Oscar, for the idea :D

Parody of Girlfriend (Avril Lavigne)

Here is the video that me and Phoebe made for health class. We spent at least 10 hours on it! Also, i had to put it up on facebook first because Blogger took SO long to upload, and even after 4 hours, it still wasnt done. Excuse my Ke$ha wannabee-ness (trust me, i really dont want to be her. I just did it for the video) and our horrible singing. x)

Here are the lyrics!

(Chorus)
Hey hey you you I don't like your alcohol!
No way no way you know its not a secret,
Hey hey you you quit that habit!

Hey hey you you I know that it's bad for you!
No way no way, you know it's not a secret,
Hey hey you you quit that habit!

It's so gross, just stop it cuz it's not delicious,
You shouldn't drink it, it's just too addictive.
Dont' you know something else to make you feel alright
alright alright alright.

It's like, so whatever,
and you could do, so much better,
I think you should drop it right now,
and that's what everyone's talking bout!

(Chorus)

I can see the way, i see the way you need help,
and even when you look away I know you agree,
I know you like to get drunk, again and again
and again and again and again.

So come over here and tell me what I wanna hear,
Better yet, make your alcohol disappear!
I don't want to see you binge, ever again.
and again and again and again.

Cuz, it's like, so whatever,
and you could do, so much better,
I think you should drop it right now..

Oh in a second you'll be regretting it forever,
cuz you didnt but you should've done better.
There's no other way, so when's it gonna sink in,
Drinking's so stupid! Just what where you thinking?
(repeat^)

(Chorus)

No way, no way, HEY HEY!

I can't copy and paste on blogger, so i just had to type all that out^
That's why I was too lazy to type the chorus again and again. xD

More poems xD

I Feel
I feel ignored
I feel like a puppet
I feel cold
I feel like a disaappointment
I feel clueless
I feel misunderstood
I feel hurt
I feel like I will die alone
I feel like a failure
I feel like an unwanted rebel
I feel no freedom in my life
I feel nothing.
Nothing at all.

A mix of lyrics
(I changed some of the lyrics to make sense)

Seems like just yesterday, somewhere in time,
I used to stand so tall, I used to be so strong,
Now I'm torn into pieces.
and everyone's looking around, thinking I'm going crazy

I need a hero to save me now,
I've become so numb, I can't feel you there.
and I wonder if i ever crossed your mind,
for me it happens all the time.

Call my name and save me from the dark,
I'll never wake up without an overdose of you.

You belong with me,

We'd be perfect for each other and we'll never find another.

I think I'm falling for you.
I would have done whatever,
You're the only reason that keeps me wishing on a wishing star.
I'll never let you go.

Mix of Lyrics II

Are you aware of what you're making me feel, baby.
Why, should I care

You're tryin to be cool,
you look like a fool,

Am I supposed to put my life on hold
because you don't know where your life is going.

According to you, I'm boring, I'm moody
and you can't take me anyplace.

I don't need a man to make it happen,
I get up feeling free

na na, na na na na,
hey hey hey, good bye.

Written when I'm sad

I can never decide on what i want to do,
I can never cry when I really need to.
Because my life is controlled
Like a puppet on a string.

In the rare moments I'm happy
It doesnt take long before my world is crappy.
I'm too "immature" to make my own decisions,
my future is already laid out in front of me.

My future isn't fun.
There's nothing that can be done.
For everything i try,
Just never ever succeeds.

My life seems useless,
There's just too much stress.
Sometimes I just don't know how,
I'll get through with the rest of my life.

IPODS!

YAY I got an IPod.... shuffle. Although it's the oldest one in the IPod generation, I LOVE IT. (compare it to my last MP4, it's awesome) My family friend forgot about my birthday, and she felt bad, so she bought me it! It's BLUE (my second favourite colour) and 2GB. I imported ALL the CD's me and my sister had, (like Justin Bieber, Marianas Trench, Nickelback, Avril Lavigne, etc.) and put them into my IPod. When I made an ITunes account, I used my sister's credit card, so I couldn't purchase any songs, However, with my amazing persuading skills, she let me download one song per month ;D So, after deciding a whole day, I downloaded "Whadya Want From Me -Adam Lambert" (She didn't let me download Baby by Justin Bieber because she hates him as much as Tracy does. xD) I wonder if I give my sister a foot massage, she would let me download 2 songs per month? Hmm. Worth a try. :)

Here are some facts about IPods:

  • IPods were created by the Apple Company.
  • The types of IPods are: IPod shuffle, IPod Nano, IPod Touch, IPod Classic, and IPhone.
  • It is the most popular music player today.
  • IPod's maximum volume can go up to 120 decibles, which is the same as standing beside a jet plane taking off.
  • On September 1, 2004, ITunes hit 125 million songs downloaded.
  • IPods have a short battery life and are very fragile.
  • They come in many colours :)
  • The new IPod Nano has a camera in it.

I think that the IPod is the best portable music device ever! The one I REALLY REALLY want the most is the IPhone. (Although my mom won't let me get a cell phone until high school)

My long weekend

Hi! I'm blogging at school! Haha I didn't even touch my pencil today or do any work because more than half of the class is gone at the OBA (Ontario Band Association, I think?) I CAN'T WAIT UNTIL THE LONG WEEKEND! -just.. two.. more.. periods!!- I don't have piano class tonight because my piano teacher left and went to Malaysia for an emergency, tomorrow, I'm going to my friend's house for Chinese New Year for almost the whole day! (I'm not THAT excited for that because I'm not that close to them) On Sunday, I have art class in the morning, then we're going "yum-chaaing". (aka. eating dimsum) Afterwards, my sister and I are going to watch "Valentines Day" at Scarborough Town Centre, and go shopping after!!! (I have a lotttt of gift cards to spend from my birthday party, thanks to all my friends :D ) I don't think our family has any plans for Family Day though :(. I guess I'll have to finish all my homework on that day.
At school, I made up a fun and random game called "DUDEEE". You have to say "dude" in every sentence (but only to people that are also in the competition) To make the game last longer, each person has 2 "lives". Andrew already lost 2. haha. Some people that are in the game are: Sarranya, Subaniya, me, Joni, Andrew, Tracy, Oscar, and Sophie.

____________________________________________________

On Friday, our family went out for dinner at this Chinese restaurant. I felt happier because I didn't have to go to piano class :D When we went back home, the Olympic opening ceremony already started, but we watched the rest of it. It was very very breathtaking. It wasn't better than the Beijing one, but I liked all the effects and technology that was used. I also liked Nelly Furtado and Katie Lang's performance. Another thing I really liked was how they showed Canada's muliculture and diversity. A lot of the ceremony was related to the Aboriginal people, I think that Katie Lang symbolized the homosexual Canadians (yes, she's gay) and each of the different performances show Canada's seasons and regions (i.e., the Prairies)
On Saturday, I slept in VERY late because the Olympics were very long the night before. I woke up in time for lunch. I did some of my homework, then at about 4:00, we went to my cousin's house to visit them for about an hour. Then, we went to our family friend's house. We had to go so early because my mom and dad had to cook most of the food. I watched House for the whole time until dinner. After a very big feast, we played Wii while the adults were chatting over tea. I was a little bored because they only had Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort, and I played the same games over and over again until MIDNIGHT. We finally left, and I went to sleep at 2:00 a.m! The next morning, I woke up in time for lunch (again) and we (our whole family) went to yum-cha. :D Afterwards, my sister and I went straight to watch Valentines Day at the AMC 20. It was very funny. Then, we went to Scarborough Town Centre to go SHOPPING!!! My sister practically stops at EVERY store, so I didn't get a chance to use the gift cards I got for my birthday. I did, however, get Taylor Swift's Fearless Platinum Edition CD and bought a shirt at Bluenotes. I SAW SOPHIE AT BLUENOTES!! :D By the time we got to Aeropostale, it was already 5, and while trying some clothes on, the employees had to shoo us out because they were already closing. :( So to our disappointment, (or, to MY disappointment) we had to go home. Family Day wasn't exactly "family". My sister had to leave right after lunch to go back to Peterborough. I spent the day doing homework. After I went to art class, I went to Phoebe's house for dinner and we hung out for a while.

Back to school the next day. xP

Highlights of 2009

2009 was probably the most eventful, fun, and exciting year of my life. (Here are the highlights of 2009, in order starting from January)
My first highlight was China. It was the first year I did the countdown in China. It wasn't the same because a) all the live shows of New Year Eve's concerts in China were in Chinese (so I only understood half of what they were saying), and there were singers that I've never heard of before. b)The fireworks and everything didn't seem very enthusiastic and "extravaganza-ish" c) I had a fever during that week. Despite all that, it was memorable because we spent it with our ENTIRE. family. (all my grandparents and aunts and uncles)
My second highlight was probably Kearney. Not much to say, but it was fun, again, despite the fact that I got a fever the night we arrived. Believe it or not, that was my first time away from home. =D (I liked the freedom) x]
Another highlight was definitely Houston. I won't give the story again, considering how you guy are probably tired of my Houston stories. Besides, I gave a very lengthy recount of it. (scroll to the bottom of my blog)
My fourth highlight wasn't very.. err.. fun. EQAO. Yea. Torture. xP However, I did survive 1 and a half week of constant writing, reading, and... math-ing? Let see.. oh! My last day at Kennedy Public School was quite.. uhm..emotional :( I went to school there since JK kindergarten, and was very connected to everyone there. Also, me and Phoebe were the only people leaving for extended french (KPS went up to grade 8)
During the summer, I went to the USA, which is somewhere I don't go very often. It wasn't the best trip i guess... I went with some Chinese tour, and sorry New York and everywhere else in the US, but I advise people who are thinking about eating Chinese food in America: DON'T. Maybe it was just the ones we went to, but IT WAS DISGUSTING. Yea. It really was. Well other than the bad food, we went to NYC, Washington DC, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and a few other places which I forgot where. It was really fun and we went for 4 days. OH I LOVED Times Square and on the last day, we went to and outlet mall and we only had 45 minutes. The great thing about the short time limit was that my parents didn't have to consider whether or not to let my buy this and that. We just grabbed the stuff we wanted and quickly paid for it. It was AWESOME. <3>
My last highlight of 2009 was my first day of middle school at SAM. I remember that I was terrified of many things. I was scared that me and Phoebe wouldn't find any friends, scared that I might get bullied by grade 8's, scared that the teachers might hate me, and scared that I would totally humiliate myself. Luckily, everything went pretty well. We made one or two friends on the first day, didn't get bullied, the teachers seemed to be okay with me, and I didn't humiliate myself THAT much to the point where i had to put a paper bag on my head. =D
So school got better and more fun.. and 2009 ended with a great big, "HAPPY NEW YEAR!"

Song lyrics

Here is the music video for "If Today Was Your Last Day" by Nickelback. (The song is AWESOME. :D)

Here are the lyrics:

My best friend gave me the best advice
He said each day's a gift and not a given right
Leave no stone unturned, leave your fears behind
And try to take the path less traveled by
That first step you take is the longest stride

If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
If today was your last day

Against the grain should be a way of life
What's worth the prize is always worth the fight
Every second counts 'cause there's no second try
So live like you'll never live it twice
Don't take the free ride in your own life

If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?
Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day

If today was your last day
Would you make your mark by mending a broken heart?
You know it's never too late to shoot for the stars
Regardless of who you are
So do whatever it takes
'Cause you can't rewind a moment in this life
Let nothin' stand in your way
Cause the hands of time are never on your side

If today was your last day
And tomorrow was too late
Could you say goodbye to yesterday?

Would you live each moment like your last?
Leave old pictures in the past
Donate every dime you have?
Would you call old friends you never see?
Reminisce old memories
Would you forgive your enemies?
Would you find that one you're dreamin' of?
Swear up and down to God above
That you finally fall in love
If today was your last day

WWII Stories

I know I have already done a blog on Remembrance Day, but I have to do one on one of the prompts, so here it goes.

I read a recount of some things that happened in the World War II by a man named Charles Kewen. He had flown many aircrafts in the war. He talked a lot about the planes he had flown, and although they were confusing and sort of hard to understand, his recount was quite interesting. He lived and was trained for flying planes in Saskatchewan, and his younger brother was also in the war. Unfortunately, his brother was killed.
As I was reading his story, I felt very bad for the soldiers that fought for Canada’s freedom. They had to go through tough situations, one after another, and they’re life was always in danger when they fought. For example, as I mentioned before, Charles Kewen’s brother was killed, but instead of being able to just grieve about his death, he had to continue fighting for our country. Another time, his leaders told him and a few other men to board a plane to fight without telling them where they were going. He was constantly moved from place to place without seeing his friends and family for a long periods of time.
I could not imagine myself in Charles Kewen’s shoes. Such tragic events happening continuously have never happened in my life. When my hair sticks up in really weird positions, I get a huge zit on my face, and I get a bad mark on a test, I feel like my life is over. However, I now realize that the worst things that happen in my life are NOTHING compared to what the soldiers have gone through. I think those men that have fought in the battle and the women that helped the soldiers were very brave and I am thankful that they fought for Canada and our freedom.

Here is the link to the website with true stories from the soldiers that have once fought in the World War II: http://www.thememoryproject.com/Stories.aspx

Friends and Family!

What are the most important things in your life? Well yes, I know, it is food and water, but what if I said the most important living things in your life? Hmmm… think about it. Who are in your daily life? That’s right. Your friends and family. Think back. When you were practicing your piano piece for a recital, who was there to give you advice and feedback? Probably your family or one of your friends. When your pet passed away, who was there to comfort you? Who gives you birthday presents? Who helps you study? Let me guess… the answer for all those are either your friends or family.
I know for one thing, I cannot live without my friends, or any family members. At school, I have TONS of friends that eat with me at lunch, help me study last minute, and to hang out with. If I didn’t have them, I would eat alone, study by myself (which is a lot more boring than studying with friends) and I’d be moping around, doing nothing at lunch recess. Same thing if I didn’t have a family. I’d be so lonely at home and I wouldn’t know a lot of things.
Friends look out for each other, and your family is always there for you. :)

Remembrance Day

On the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, people all around Canada wearing a poppy are solemn. It is Remembrance Day, a day where all Canadians remember the soldiers that fought for our land in the First World War (1914-1918), the Second World War (1939-1945), and the Korean War (1950-1953). In total, more than 1,500,000 Canadians had served our country, and over 100,000 have died. They gave up their lives so we could live in freedom and peace, so we must remember their bravery and sacrifice.

Most schools have a Remembrance Day assembly, including SAM. At our assembly, there were piano and violin performances, students recited poems, and there were slide shows about the soldiers and Remembrance Day. At the end of each thing, no one applauded, as it was a serious assembly. Then there was a trumpet solo by Ms. Howl’s son, Daniel, followed by 2 minutes of silence. During the 2 minutes, everyone stood with their heads’ bowed, as we thought about Canada and its peace and freedom. No one sneezed. No one coughed. It was so quiet that if a pin dropped, it would have sounded like thunder. Then another short trumpet solo signaled the end of the silence.

Most of the men going to fight in the wars aren’t very old, maybe about 18 or 19, and started training many years before that. Imagine if you were just 6 or 7 years older than you are right now, and you’re about to leave all your friends and families behind, knowing you may never return alive. War has been going since 1914, and still, Canadians are helping in peacekeeping forces and help fighting other countries’ wars, sometimes claiming their lives.

What can we do? Well on Remembrance Day, wear a poppy and show that you’re thankful for the soldiers that fought and are still fighting for Canada’s peace and freedom. Drop spare change into boxes to support the Veterans that have fought in the war, and most importantly, remember and be thankful for our land.

Wii Fit

I personally do not like yoga or aerobics or anything like that, but fortunately for me, there is the WII FIT! Wii fit is a video game created by Nitendo for the Wii console. This game uses a Wii Balance board. When you stand on it, it could calculate your BMI (Body Mass Index) as long as you know your height, and you could play dozens of different games and exercises. There are yoga poses, strength training like push-ups, aerobics, and balance games. There are also balance tests to see how balanced on both sides you are.

Wii Fit has many yoga poses. There is a virtual trainer on the screen and you follow what he/she does on the board. The same thing goes to the strength training. For aerobics, there are games like hula hoop and jogging that help increase your heart rate. The last category are the balance games, which includes activities like tightrope walking to practice controlling your balance. To make you want to always play this game, along the way, you unlock new games and levels. You can also set your own goal of how much weight you want to lose in a certain period of time. Wii fit also gives you a Tip/Fact of the Day on living a healthy lifestyle.

I sadly have to say, I do not have a Wii fit. I have always wanted one, but my mom wouldn't let me buy one until the price starts lowering. How do I know so much about it? I've always gone to my friends' houses to play, and I absolutely LOVE it. In some games, it is very tiring, almost as exhausting as playing real sports! My favourite is the Long-distance running in the Aerobics section. You put the Wii control in your pocket and you simply jog for a very long route. Your goal is not to be fast, but to keep a steady pace. I think this game helps me improve my stamina so when I am running laps, it is easier.

The only thing I do not like about the Wii fit is that in the Yoga and Strength-Training section, they are all the same with just a routine and a trainer, which makes it slightly boring. I think it would be more fun if there were also some games for the category like in the aerobics section. However, I'd give this game a 4.5/5 and would recommend it to everyone.

Have fun playing the Wii Fit!!

Oh by the way, HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

Update on my life =D

Okay so here is a update on life. I know it isn't as funny as Jane's but oh well.

First off, I'd like to thank everyone who voted me for the Student Leadership Council Class rep!!! Congrats to Sarranya too who is also the class rep! I promise to do a great job!

We had a Terry Fox walk on Friday, which is the funnest Terry Fox Walk EVER!! We had a blast doing tai chi while we walked, and waved to random strangers passing by in the cars. We also saw a dead squirrel with its guts.. okay I'm not going into details. I screamed really loud when I saw that, and I also screamed every time I saw a bee (yes, you can call me a scaredy cat). After the run, we had the rest of the day to ourselves outside. We mostly talked and sang. I used my voice A LOT so now my throat is killing me!! I'll be very quiet back at school =(.

Me, Jane, and Phoebe are on Green Team duties starting Monday, and I hope no Grade 8 gives us a hard time! (We're supposed to make sure the garbage goes into the correct bin)

I miss my old.. oh I mean FORMER school VERY much. I haven't seen all my friends from Kennedy Public School for about 3 weeks, and I already miss them a lot!

Stay tuned for more updates on Tina Tona Teeni's life!!!!!!!!!!!! =D
Thanks for reading!

Kennedy-Houston AWESOME Trip

It was November 2008, as I remember it vividly, a teacher walked into our classroom during math and said, "Who will be 12 by June?" I raised my hand, not knowing what that was for. "Well you people are lucky, because we're going to have an EXCHANGE TRIP!" I gasped, and questions started flying out of mine and everyone else's mouth. "To where?" "For how long?""How much will it cost?" Then, the teacher told us that it was a mix of grade 6 and 7 students, and they could only choose 25 people.

It took a lot of persuading to let my parents give me permission to try to get on the exchange. We had to write an essay saying why we should be chosen, and to make a long story just a bit shorter, I was chosen, and we wrote letters to our penpal somewhere called Houston, BC. It was a small town, and nothing like Toronto. It was mostly nature and trees.

May was here, and the Houston people finally came! Most of them have never been to such a big city with so many cars, people, and buildings. The week they were here, we brought them to The Ontario Science Centre, CN Tower, The ROM, Niagara Falls, The Toronto Zoo, the beach, and a mall. My partner's name was Breanna, and she had SO many things in common with me. Other than the places our school brought us too, we (me, Breanna, Phoebe, and her partner) went to places like Pacific Mall and Scarborough Town Centre. The week was AWESOME, and then sadly, they had to leave. (They were here for a week) Then we had 2 weeks of EQAO, and then, OUR TURN TO VISIT THEIR TOWN!!

To get to Houston, we had to take a 5 hour flight to Vancouver, then a 1 hour flight to Prince George, and then a 5 hour drive to Houston! When we arrived, we jumped in joy to be reunited with our friends, and another week of fun started. The first 2 days, we went to a horseback riding camp, and I can't tell someone about the exchange trip without telling them this: We we playing our version bordenball, and as I was diving at the ball, I wasn't aware that the field had horses roaming around. So I jumped at the ball, and hugged it so no one would take it. Then I noticed a HORRIBLE gut-wrentching stink, and I looked at the ball. It had HORSE POOP on it. I jumped up and wiped my hand on the grass. Then it took me a split second for my mind to process the fact that I jumped onto the ball and had rolled on the grass. I slowly, very slowly, looked down , and saw horse poop on my shirt and pants!!!! I screamed in horror and disgust, and sprinted back to our cabin to change. Anyways, at the camp, other than diving into horse poop, we rode horses and went on a trail ride, and went on 1 and a half hour hike up a mountain, I gotta say, it was more tiring than the laps that Mr.Busby made us do today ;D.

We also went into one of the world's biggest sawmill (Houston was full of trees, so it makes sense, right?) Went swimming in a lake (picture below), a native american site called "K'san" and on the last day, a small version of The Amazing Race. Although we came in last (not my fault! Breanna couldn't run in flip-flops!) that was really really really fun too. We got to run around Houston, but it wouldn't sound surprising once you see how small it is. (They only have 1 traffic light, their population is about 1,000 people, and 1 mall with 4 stores!)

On our last day, we had to say goodbye to all the close friends we made in 2 weeks. There we many tears coming out of our eyes, as we know that we'll never see each other again. We left Houston, with many good memories to cherish, and an unforgettable experience to stay in our minds.
